Default Is my tensioner screwed? (Pic)

As I was putting my timing belt on, the spring for the tensioner popped off and when I put it back on I realized that the gray inner coil was protruding out from the outer coil. The problem is I don't know if it was already like that. Is it okay or should I replace it before running the engine?

I'm like 99.9% sure that's fine, I mean the H series ones don't even have that sleeve.

Though I don't wanna tell you it is then have it not be .

Hm. I like to play it safe but I also want to hurry up and get this car running as I've had it apart for weeks going from paycheck to paycheck for parts and tools (my job sucks). I'll wait and see if I get some more insight from other members, but thanks guys.

The timing cover? Yeah, it'd be hard to take that picture with the cover on.
