dc5 reverse whining sound
05 type-s 6 spd; i notice sometime i drive on reverse gear the whining sound seems a little more louder than before. beside that also, gears are a little rough going in. does this mean my tranny is in danger or tranny fluids needs to be change. it has 27k mileages on it right now. any advice is helpful and appreciated.
You at a good point to do a flush anyways so do it and see if it works. I think your fine though unless you have been doing redline launchings in reverse.
haha i'm not a reverse racer freak here. you mean by flushing the old tranny fluid out and pour in some new one? if so, which fluid is recommended for this type of car. i'm pretty sure its the one from dealership huh?
Ask diffrent people and get a diffrent answers about this. Some will say only honda mtf and some will say gm synchromesh, ams oil, ect. Me, I use gm synchromesh just b/c it puts you on the baller level and i know what i feel with and without it but be ready to spend 20 something a bottle. I have no girlfriend so i vote gm synchromesh b/c with a g/f i can't by myself ****.
so gm synchromesh just puts you on the baller level huh? and it works the same with honda mtf. are honda mtf cheaper than gm? if so, then gm got to be better than honda mtf. i aint got no g/f either so i'm still getting honda mtf. thanks
Try searching on the topic and you will see why gm synchromesh is better. Ill give you a hint, It's in the name. All honda mtf is motor oil. Just do a search.

Doesnt Honda claim their MTF to have additives that help with shifting? If its just motor oil than someone would sue for false advertising so I highly doubt Honda mtf is just plain old motor oil. Ive been using honda mtf for quite a while and my gsr tranny has 150K+ miles with zero grinds.

They may have something in them but i have used the honda mtf and the gm synchromesh and after useing both, the gm synchromesh is the only thing i will use.
you can't do a flush on a manual trans..... all you do is drain and refill.. its not like an automatic trans where you actuall flush out the valve body and what not.. but ne waiz.. in reverse it "whines" b/c the reverse gear is hellical cut and its causes the "whinning noise"...

You sure it's your tranny or your brakes?

what do you mean by hellical cut?
its not the brake. sometimes at the light, it doesnt want to go in 1st gear from neutral. Had to let off the clutch pedal a little so the gear can get into gear. hope this is normal also. never happed before.
