no power steering?
my 87 Integra has pwr steering and i want to remove it. i heard its as easy as removing all the components and it should steer just like a car normally w/o it. since some of the other honda guys around my area are complete dumbasses and buy their fake *** **** from autozone i wanted to get the truth of that story.
will my car steer fine without the powersteering if i just remove everything to it?
(disclaimer: by dumbasses who buy fake *** **** from autozone i mean ricy posers who use bondo / ducttape kits, primer black hoods and hollowed out mufflers with welded on 4" tips and think its performance oriented. as i race my car strictly at the track and have nothing excess left on my car except for the powersteering and downgraded Acura stereo system)

cool, thats what i was hoping. i just needed to check since i live in an area where people are still obsessed with F&F body / paint / stereo / airride and then have the ***** to say their Honda is fast...
Taking off your power steering will not make you fast. It may free up some extra HP, but not really that much.
FYI: w/o power steering, it is very hard to turn the wheel when you are stopped.

after recently doing a motor/tranny swap, i went a couple days without ps...i had always thought about removing it too but now i changed my mind.. you'll gain hp in turns, but the loss of luxury in my opinion isnt worth it
obviously....
i'm not looking for power by removing this. im clearing up as much engine bay room as possible and taking as much weight off as possible. but im used to working on older chevys that never had any of this stuff so its just natural instinct for me to want a clean engine bay.
im fairly new to the Honda world but don't get me wrong i do know my 2 cents worth thats how i knew i got a good deal when i picked this thing up for just under 500 bucks. i've been doin my research and studyin so i know what these things are capable of. im just workin the small things out before i get serious about power since im still not sure if i wanna keep the D16 or go to a B18 which would be fairly easy but im just not too sure what the D16 can do yet since i got the shittiest version of the DOHC motor.
its the Zenkei model so its got the 113hp and used a vacum advance distributor rather than the electronic wichijiger that the kouki blacktop D16A1 had. and the blacktop had 115 hp due to slightly domed pistons and better balanced conrods i believe (dont quote me on that there conrod thing) but i wasn't lucky enough to get a kouki 1st Gen mines just a stupid browntop D16A1.

also, i might ad your talking to a guy who removed perfectly fine A/C, Cruise control, windsheild wiper fluid tank, hoses, and all that bullshit, and i have stripped the entire interior except for what's neccesary to keep the car street safe. i even unwired the rear speakers, interior lights and seatbelt wire thingy all the way down to the source. thats how serious i am. so just saying luxery is the very last thing on my mind...

Well then just take the pump out, and you should be good to go.

i think too that it does, but only at the flywheel right. cause you can't exactly feel a difference.

extra horse power to the flywheel means extra horse power to the wheels, where else would it go?

Yeah, there are some that say to install a removal kit with a breather and stuff, but it is not really necessary. I ran my DA without the pump and cooler and just looped the lines. It was difficult in parking lots, but I am not a sissy, so I coped just fine, this was with 215 tires, too.
good thing about removing power steering u dont put to much strain on the engine and makes it work less harder plus if you hit bumps and have no power steering it takes the bump, but when u have p/s it kinda makes your car steering wheel move a little while driving.without p/s it makes your car more stable
damn cold weather. i haven't had a chance to get under the hood cause once i prop up the hood and pull out the wrenches my fingers will be numb... i was really hoping to take the PS out like 3 days ago now. its supposed to be in the 50s tomorrow so i think i'll do it then. i hate Missouri weather.

I had his kit on my DC and it worked great.
Once i got rid of my PS I would never go back. I loved it!!! The only time i found it hard to drive was parallel parking.

hahaha, the parallel parking does seem hard. My friend didn't have PS in his hatch and it seemed really hard for him to make slow turns and parellel park. One day i might want to remove it just to clean up the bay.

I finally took the powersteering out! believe it or not it seems alot smoother than it did with powersteering. im happy with it. now the next step is lowering... the suspension on my car is confusing...its seems impossible to modify..
