I'm installing a new set of precision injectors into my B18. I was not running the injector cushion rings before and had no problems but am wondering if anyone is running them on after market injectors.

I am NOT talking about the upper most o-rings, the lower IM o-rings that mount into the manifold, or the 3 fuel rail spacers. I am talking about the cushion rings that go around the shaft of the injector right below the upper o-ring.

WOW, so no one has ever installed after market injectors in here?

 

the only o-rings i have on my precision 1000 cc are the fuel rail o-ring (uppermost) and the IM o-ring.

Yeah, I ran mine like that for awhile as well. Was just wondering what other people were doing.

 

 

my dsms I did run them, my current precisions I do not.

 

I run them all on my percision 1000cc's. Never had a problem.

So I don't have a rail, manifold, and injectors in front of me, but what prevents the injectors from being pushed up and out of the intake manifold o rings by boost/vibration/fuel/heat? Isn't that what the "cushion rings" are for? Can the injectors not move up that far before hitting the top inside of the rail, or before the upper rings end up inside the passage of the rail, past the sealing surface, spraying fuel everywhere?

 

the injector "cut outs" in the fuel rail are not just a through hole, there is a "roof" on it.

also, some injectors have the plastic on it, that will help stop the injector from going further into the rail. which is why you wont need the "cushion"

ive had problems with the top o rings being blown out of the rail, and fuel going every which place, but that problem was caused by a bad cut on the injectors, so the o ring had too much room to play in... and got out of the rail.
