rad fan on everytime 91 hatch is at idle
I have a stock 91 std hatch
Everytime the car is at a standstill lately I have been hearing the fan on. It is between 40 and 60 degrees fahrenheit outside.
I replaced the stock thermostat with a 192f a while back, but the fan didnt come on at idle til now i dont think.
over the summer, the water pump leaked one drop at a time out of the weephole on and off for a couple weeks, and I had to top off the overflow tank a little, could that have recently seized causing the car to run hotter?
the temp gauge has been between 1/3-1/2 which is def normal.
I ran a grill block for the last year for higher engine temps for better mpg, and just removed it but fan still stays on at a standstill.
Thanks in advance!

check your coolant temp sensor, or your fan relay, could have a bad relay keeping circuit closed which keeps constant power goin to the fan and the fan will stay on at all times, those are the first things u should check, then move on from there...
Thanks guys, I think everythings ok after all. The fan comes on at idle when the key is in, and the engine is warm, i think that is normal. It goes off when I shut the car off.
no its not normal.
Sounds like a stuck relay or switch.
Testing a relay is pretty hard to explain online w/o pictures and every relay is different. So try swapping relays first or searching a service manual to how to properly test it (you have to put power through it and check contunity so have an ohmmeter handy)
Or it could be a fan switch thats stuck as well. This is located on the therm. housing.
