Inspection ?
Does anyone in the Buffalo/Rochester, NY area know of any "laid back" or "easy" to get an inspection?
I just want this thing to pass so i don't have to worry.

Although i agree, i think its entirely counter-productive the way states like California do inspections. I cant say anything first hand, but i've heard several stories from people online getting HUGE tickets for stupid little things like a non-CARB cold air intake or a header that wasn't certified.
I think underneath all the bullshit, there is a good idea somewhere. I dont know how states like NY do it, but i hope its different than California. I know that my car would never pass emissions...
What do they look for at an "inspection?"

Ny is very lenient, although they do require the car to pass emissions.
I am an inspection mechanic just south of the Ny/Pa border, and I work an a ton of cars that pass inspection in ny, that would not even come close to passing in pa...at least body wise. As long as you have the safety items in proper working order your car will pass. this includes but is not limited to:
tires, brakes, suspension, exhaust, steering, lights, etc.

that is true, i only am worried because i used to have a 96 jetta, that would never pass because of the OBDII. http://www.nysdmv.com/broch/c-50.htm
I mean, i see no reason why it wouldn't pass besides the parking brake no working but i never had a car with rust before either.
Do you have to pay if it fails inspection?

Actually in WA if you fail they give you a free pass for next time you come. So if you pass the 2nd time its like they never charged you for failing.
