Every 3000 miles. yes the meter works with synthetic oil also. I wouldnt go by that though, just change it around every 3000 miles even if you have a good percentage left.

I drive a bit more than average (60 mile daily commute to school) so I go about 5k between oil changes. I usually wind up doing that in 3 months. The oil meter does work. Surprisingly, I'm down to 20% right when I'm around the 5k mark.

I disagree with changing it every 3k especially if you are using synthetic oil. The oil particles are not going to be completely broken down in 3k miles. If you are that worried about driving your car past the 3k mark, send your oil out for an oil analysis for further proof that you are changing your oil earlier than necessary.

Also the oil life meter is there for a reason, it takes a lot of factors into consideration when calculating your oil life so why not trust it?

I myself have used mobile one oil/k&n filter after the first oil change and I change my oil at the 15-20% mark.

Once a year or 25,000 miles whichever comes first for me.
