Default installing a 98+ abs system into a 94-97 integra????

I was wondering what parts I would need and how hard it would be to wire in the abs computer to do the full conversion. From what I have heard the abs computer has different wiring and also connects to the dash wiring in a different way than the 94-97 tegs. If anyone can help me out id appreciate it. I want the 4 channel abs. Thanks

O yeah so far i know i need:
abs computer
abs modulator
98+ hardlines to prop valve

Things I am not sure i need:

98+ brake lines to disc brakes
98+ abs prop valve
98+ mc/bb
98+ abs wheel sensors
98+ wiring harness

If anyone could update me on which parts are really needed and what needs to be done with the wiring id appreciate it thanks

The only thing I know is that that plug in the engine bay for the ABS unit is different between the years, you would need to get the new harness or maybe there would be a way to wire in the different plug. Personally, I really don't think it's worth the cost or hassle.

It would be very difficult to perform this conversion. You definitely need the 98+ harness as the 98+ ABS is a four channel unit and the 94-97 is a three channel. I think there is also a difference in the output voltage to the ABS dash light.

All of the hard lines are different.

You would need the bold items.

Yea i know safety is more important. But removing abs is not a horrible thing either. i was just wondering if I could attain the 98+ improved abs system and have jdm hids, best of both worlds and get a better braking system.

Guess it seems like a huge lot of money to source all those parts not to mention the custom wiring that would have to be made to make this work.

Thanks for the help guys

btw originally all teh posts i read about this said it was really easy to upgrade to the newer abs. i figured it wasnt and wanted to get a completely through evaluation of the parts and work that would need to be attained. Basicall not really worth the money or the upgrades.

i'll say relocate the abs modulator. i also have a 94 db8 (gsr) and i did the 98 spec jdm itr front conversion. all i did was have the abs relocate. still works but looks shitty in the engine bay.

Oh and to the last poster on that thread.....sorry, I did not see your post til now. Yeah I know.....9 months ago I had the plugs so all I had to do was just follow the wiring diagram found in many a threads ( by way of search ) here on H-T.

I've been thinking about doing this lately, I wrecked my 98 GSR and just bought a 95 GSR shell. I'm swapping everything over, including the engine harness since it's just going to plug into the dash harness, obd doesn't matter.

I guess I have everything I need to swap the better ABS system, but from reading all these threads about it, it seems no one has done it. I want to attempt it, but would love to see or talk to someone who's done it successfully.

if u have ur old car with all the hard lines (even the ones under the car) and all the other brake components (master cylinder, brake booster, prop valve, abs computer, abs modulator, etc) as well as the obd2 engine harness this should be a straight bolt on process i believe.

My scenario was different b/c the hard lines for a 94-97 are all (even the long ones) different from the newer abs. Buying or getting those lines made would of been more trouble than it is it worth. Also in my scenario i have an obd1 wire harness so i would have to custom wire it in. again not really worth the trouble.

but good luck just look at the wiring diagrams and the pictures of the setup in a helms manual shouldnt be too hard

the more I deal with my stupid old 96 ABS, the more I really want to do this swap. I know the tech forums are pretty dead lately, but I at least plan to check out some cars in the junkyard for the differences.

Well you can look at official part diagrams and illustrations from Honda on literally any car. So no need to go to a salvage yard just to research the difference in parts. As far as sourcing parts, finding a low mileage salvage vehicle would be the best way to get everything you need for cheap.

You need to swap the front and rear wheel hubs with the ABS compatible hubs because they wont have the bolt hole for the ABS sensors, I ran into this issue converting my 98 GSR with JDM 96 spec hub and wheel conversion. I had to swap the housing so the sensor could bolt on. I think it would be better to sell what you got and find a stock 98+ DC2 or try it..
