is the ls water pump same part number as gsr water pump
Are they the same for ls and gsr water pump. I know timing belt is different. How about oil pan gasket for ls, will it work on gsr oil pan?
nope...gsr and ls water pumps are different...the number of teeth on the gear is different...and correct me if im wrong, but gsr water pumps produce less bubbles in the system cause during high rpms, it doesn't spin as fast?

Good website to compare part numbers to see if they are the same.
Water pump isnt the same but the oil pan gasket is.

LS and GSR water pumps are different so is the timing belt!!but u can use gsr water pump in LS all u have to do is get a GSR Timing Belt!
LS/GSR/ITR oil pumps from 96+ all the same !!!!
I hope that helps !!

Gsr has a 22 tooth sprocket on the w/pump versus the 19 tooth sprocket on the ls. Better cooling with the gsr w/pump.

No you can't, not without a VTEC head on the block. The VTEC heads themselves are taller than the LS. So you can only use a 22 tooth GSR water pump on a LS block if you have a VTEC head with the VTEC belt. Otherwise just stick to any B18A/B18B/B20 timing belts on a LS head/block. This is from my own experience also, at work(Acura dealership) the shop foreman was doing a auto LS timing belt/water pump combo and the parts guy gave him a GSR pump at first and the belt would not fit, had to take the pump back off and get an LS one.

My buddy is using TODA tbelt(gsr one) on his LS-T (ls head+ls block b18b1) for 1 year already ...with some 96+oil pump some 96+ gsr pump no problems with fitting whatsoever!!!

First, the GSR pump does not produce less bubbles....if you have bubbles in your coolant system, you have air in it and something is wrong.
Second, the GSR pump does not cool the engine better....it actually cools it less. The more teeth actually make it spin less, which is made so because the gsr spins to 8k vs 6800.....

So next time why don't you tell us about a friend that is using a OEM belt not an aftermarket which for all you know could be for a LS with GSR pump, just because your friend might be lazy and just say it is a GSR belt for the GSR pump doesn't mean it is. Because like I said, I have seen it myself, I was the one who pointed out that it was a GSR pump because of the teeth count when the belt wouldn't go on. Plus Darren says so too from experience, not just because you know a friend that has a part that he says is for that car. Hell, I took off the DOHC VTEC emblem off the back of my car and put the Special Edition one and everything but the engine looks like a SE on my car and I tell everyone that asks about my car that it is a stock LS. Just because I say those things doesn't mean thats what it is.

the water pump does not cool the engine....the radiator/fan does...yes you can use the gsr pump on a STOCK LS...you CAn even use the ls timing belt but its a tight fit and i wouldnt recommend it...you CAN use the GSR/typeR/b16 (22 tooth) pump on ANY b-series block.
the oil pan gasket will be differant.

Umm... you have those backwards. When you personally go and try to get a LS timing belt on a LS motor with a GSR water pump without screwing something up then come back and tell me whether it will work or not. Not only is the GSR water pump have a larger diameter water pump with more teeth but on top of that you are using a taller head with a VTEC head that is why the belt is longer. So you are going to say that a LS belt which is smaller not just because of the smaller pump but because of the shorter head also, the shorter belt just doesn't have the length to make up for either of the too larger differences. And no the oil pan gasket will not be different. Yes, the newer design has little metal collars in the gasket to help but the size is the same.

WTF are you talking about? i have personally used a GSR pump on a stock ls block with the stock ls belt (just to get me home, but it worked). the diameter on the pump is like 1/2" differant, and more than that much adjustment can be made with the tensioner. as far as the gsr pump/belt on stock ls...i ran that setup for over a year before i went vtec. and still used the same belt on ls/vtec.
yes you can use the 22 tooth pump on any b-series block if you use the right belt. are you trying to tell me that all of that is wrong or only one part? have you ever actually tried it?

what is backwards? i never said i was using the ls belt on ls/vtec...just stock ls with gsr pump. which it will fit...just really really tight.

I would really love to know what I posted that was "false". The oil pan gaskets are exactly the same. Check the part numbers in the link I posted. Learn to read and comprehend information n00b.
