Default 96 to 99 prelude engine swap

Hi.
Has anyone tryed to put a 96 prelude 2.0 136hp engine into a 99 prelude? I busted my engine and now i can't find the same engine so i have to put this one. I have the intake and the exhaust collectors, the ECU, the gearbox and the engine. Will it work? Has anyone done that? What problems may occur while cganging the engines? Please help! 10x in advance

im not sure what ur asking... are you trying to put a B20a5 into a 5th gen? I could be wrong but im pretty sure B20a was the only 2.0L in a prelude.... and thats supposed to be '88-'91 ... whats the engine code on the one you have?

He's probably talking about and F-series engine, but I do not know what they had in those markets..maybe an F20 SOHC?

the 92-96 has a 2.0i 133bhp engine. Mine is a H22A4 or a F20A4 i think but i'm not sure for the other. All i know is that it's a 2.0i 133hp from a '96 prelude.

What market are you in, European? Do you know what the engine code is?

Edit: Nevermind, I guess you're I the UK...

Aha!, thanks.

BB9 Prelude 2.0i engine:

That's an F-series SOHC non-VTEC.

That should bolt in no prpblem, and if you have the ECU and everything you should definately be able to swap it in there. I think you'll have to use the mounts from the 99 though...

That is a 97+ prelude hawk. fwiw.

I'm not sure if there's a naming confusion or he doesn't know what engine he really is getting.

He says the 2.0 is from the 96 and he wants to put it in the 99. Don't know what was in the 99...

Yeak, ok, then that was why I asked about the picture, I figured you were posting a pic of the engine he was going to use, not the car.

I'm confusered still here

Anyways, I think it will work.

Yes, it is the engine he wants to use in the pic, haha. The engine in the pic is what he has from a 96, but he wants to put in the car in the pic; a 99. So basically the pic is the end result that he wants.

'96 in USDM and JDM noone made a 2.0L in a Prelude only a 2.2L F22a SOHC, in the Accord and Prelude.

'90-'95 F22a here and '90-'93 F20a Japan... The 2.0L here is '86-'89 A20a Accord, and B20a '88-'91 in Prelude....

Having all that said i think he means 2.0L replacement for the F22a from an Accord... thats my vote

Still dunno about it going in 5th gen though...

never seen a single cam in a 5th gen...could be interesting..

'99 H22 oil pump, used have to use an odb2 dizzy and harness right?... But when you get the the transmissions, wouldn't you have to make your F20a AT to work in a '99 Tipronic setup...?
