96 Prelude Engine Swap

96 Prelude Engine Swap
I have a 96 Prelude my moms friend is giving me if I can buy a new engine for it. From what he says it originally had a 2.3 L engine in it but I don’t think it did. I think it had a F20b in it but I was wondering if I could put a h22a in it without swapping any wiring harnesses, etc. out, I tried to see what model it was but I couldn’t really tell. I did see a sticker inside where the door opens that said “Airbag: Si” any help would be appreciated, I only had a few minutes to take a look at it today

Re: 96 Prelude Engine Swap
The sticker in the doorjamb says Airbag: Si, meaning it is an Si model. This came with a 2.3 non-vtec engine code H23A1.
Being a '96, it should be pre-wired for Vtec, but you would probably need to extend a wire or two. Without knowing your location, it's tough to tell what you might need to pass any inspections, but I would say put in a 2.2 Vtec JDM engine, and do an ObdII to OBD I conversion if possible, and either use a US P13 ecu, or get a tunable ecu and get it tuned for the engine.
