LS tranny problem
I just bought a tranny, and it wont go into 2,4,R but it can go into 1,3,5
2,4,R goes in half way, but wont pop into gear. I try putting oil in the tranny but nothing works. The old owner said I need to start my motor.... But what would that do???? Did I get ripped off?

nope, I dont want to mess up the tranny anymore than it is. I dont want to drive it because, I know I can't even get in 2,4,R gear. Dont want to hurt anything.
So the guy is B.S. me huh??? thats what i'm thinking also.

You should be telling the whole story first before you start saying stuff. Get your story straight. From the sound of it, you don't even know what you're doing. It's your job to check and install everything properly. How are you shift gears with no tranny fluid in? It's like starting up a car without any oil in. Anybody knows that without tranny fluid in, you can ruin it because there's no lubrication. I know that the tranny was in working order before it got sold to you.

I suggest you mind your own business before you dig your friend a deeper hole. How ironic is it that I bought a transmission from your friend and we experienced the same problems--same transmission type. Hmmm...if one didn't know better, he might even think it was the same transmission...

DETOUR180-
"It drive fine. I pour 4 qt of tranny fluid and it pretty much work good accept it feels weird on 2nd and 4th just pop out into neutral. The car rev fine too the only problem is 4th gear.
The tranny was good. All that was done was a change of clutch kit and flywheel.
I will check the linkage again when i get a chance. Thanks guys."
4 QT I thought only 2.9qt the most.
Yeah I didn't put oil in the tranny, but we done motor swaps before and shift it fine without tranny oil. You act like I was shifting every gear as if I was driving. I only shift twice just to make sure the tranny was fine.
