Default what exactly is a wideband o2 sensor? (searched)

hey everyone. I got my headers on and put a denso o2 i got off ebay. I see a lot of people talk about wide band o2's and i was just curious what exactly do these do.
and do you have to have one to tune properly or to hook up a a/f meter or is this just for better tuning/ for hondata, etc.?

searched but found nothing about what they are.

Try google next time, and check tuning sites.

there is a ton of info out there on widebands.

Basically, the stock sensor is only good for saying either you're rich or you're lean. It doesn't say how rich or how lean really, past a certain point. The range it can read in is very narrow, hence "Narrowband".

Wideband o2 sensors have a wider range they can read, and are useful for tuning, whereas narrowbands are not.

no.

They both have limits. The wideband just reads a larger range.
