Considering a DC5... Coming from a 2006 Si.
I recently totalled my pride and joy, but have always admired the RSX. Not really looking to get a type-s though I wouldn't mind it. What are the major complaints with these cars? (i know they carried the notchy tranny over into the Si) but what else should I watch for when buying one of these besides the usual 'abuse' these cars are subject to.
Does everyone get a realistic fuel economy off of these? I managed to get ~31mpg off of the Si, so I would assume these cars can also get similar rates being they are the same basic setup.
Any advice would be great.
Edit: Also, I am considering an 03 RSX (base) Auto, with 35k miles for ~$10k. Is it just me or should i be looking for problems?

After driving my buddies 2006 Si I was wanting to get back in my car sooo bad. I did not like the feel of the car... My car seems to pull harder, but his is bone stock also! I love the way my car rides, better than his, and it is probably just because it is mine! haha Seriously though the car is a very nice comparison to the Si. The biggest difference I noticed between theType S and the Si is that the Si handles like a damn go kart. It is simply amazing compared to the boat like suspension I have! I will be working on this VERY soon. Good luck with the decision and go with a TYPE S!
I don't know man, I knew this guy that had an RSX it was base auto, and he didn't care at first but then later on he wanted a Type-S so bad.
my point is you may not want it right now but the question is what if you want it later?

In the end this car is meant to be a daily driver. Also, the type-s I'm looking at is almost to 80k miles, which means depending on how the person(s) who drove it before, it could be ready for a clutch. The base only hase 35k miles. Both the same price. *shrugs* I'm just not into trying to be fast anymore since i ran my Si into the ground.

my ep3 handles like a damn go-kart!
...and i love it!
type s all the way!
(even if your not going for fast... it's nice to have the extra pull when you need it!)
i hate to hear that another Si bit the dust...
Better luck with the TYPE S!
God Bless!

Found another type-s, same price, 50k miles. Only problem with it is a small ding on the driver fender (I have family that work at body shops so no big deal). I'm going for this one, should get preapproved for a loan today *crosses fingers* then hopefully by the end of the week I will be a member of the DC5 crowd haha.

We've had a RSX-S sine 2k3.
Gas mileage is usually about 27 mpg, depending on how much highway driving we do. Interior has held up exceptionally well. Exterior has it's share of highway scars (rock chips, small dings etc.). It does rattle and hum a bit in the interior, but not as bad as, say, my old Firebird.
The only problem I've ever had with it is the solenoid on the driver's side door lock, which was replaced under warranty by Acura.
All in all, the best commuter car we've ever owned.

I just bought one a few months ago. It's an 02 Type-S with only 50k miles on it. I test drove the the ep3 and liked it...then I drove the DC5 and loved it. Like ppl said here, it's good to have the extra pep when you want it. you don't always have to hit !!VTAK!! but it's good to have it when you do need it. GL on your search for a new car...my .02
