Default Websites for tearing down a block to send to Golden Eagle???

Does anyone know of a good website that talks about tearing down an Engine to the bear block?

I am thinking of sending out my GSR block to Golden Eagle to get sleeved and bored out. But I have never done anything as extensive as tearing down to the bear block.

So I would like to read up on it, figure out if this is something that I am capable of doing, and if so, I will probably look into getting a Helms Manual for better insturctions.

Any advice or links would be greatly appriciated!

Thanks!

a Helms would certainly help, because it will show you torquing specs for putting it back together. someone once recommended just buying another block and sending it in. It kind of saves from being down...but I don't know where you stand with your engine.

Best bet would be to break out the scotch tape and start labeling things.

Take a lot of pics. And a bunch of bags to put your bolts and nuts in. Label them as exhaust, intake, engine, tranny. If you are reusing your valve train making sure put them back where they belong to. The hard part is putting it back together. And a Helm manual will help you out. Make a note where all SENSORS GO. Good luck.

Thanks for the advice on labling everything!

As for down time. I have my original LS engine in my car right now. And am going to keep it in until I am down with the GSR engine. So I don't have to worry about down time. (although obviously I don't want this to take forever)

Do you of any good places to purchase a Helms Manual? Can I get one from a Dealer? (I would imagine I could) Or can I get one cheaper somewhere else? And suggestions?

Oh, and still looking for websites that talk about this engine tear down so I can read up and research it.

Thanks!
