you would need to put the oil restrictor in the top of the block - other than that, the head will work - the Z6 distributor will not bolt onto the Y7 head

Dont give out wrong info.
No oil restrictor is needed.

Put the head on.

BTW I have a z6 block with y7 head running in my hatch.

thanks, so i can just bolt it on and i looked up the part # for the y7 timing belt and its the same as a z6 so i should be able to use my z6 timing belt and everything?

also i see in ur sig ur running boost is that on the z6 block y7 head setup? if so does it run pretty well?

z6 belt will work just fine. Same belt.

z6 block y7 head just went into the car last week. It is boosted, just not tuned yet.

Pulled the d15 block for the current built z6 block.

Good luck with it.

I dont understand..The D16z6 block doesnt have an oil jet because its in the d16z6 head..And the Y7 head doesnt have the oil jet in the head,,So you have a motor with no oil jet and say it runs fine? I don't understand

X2

I'm not doubting either way, but if you run without it, what's the point of having it in the first place?

What oil jet are you talking about ?

88-95 d15bX's had an oil orific on the deck of the block. You need to remove that to run a vtec head. This doesnt apply here.

And anyway, I ran a d15 block with y7 head for about 4 years with no orific.

What the expletive is all the confusion about ?

you're the confusion..you ran a D15 block!!

THE D16Z6 BLOCK DOESNT HAVE AN OIL JET IN THE BLOCK,IT HAS IT IN THE HEAD AND THE Y7 HEAD DOESN'T HAVE A OIL JET IN IT LIKE THE VTEC HEAD,,SO A Z6 BLOCK AND Y7 HEAD COMBO MEANS YOU DON'T HAVE AN OIL JET unless you add one.

yes im running the d16z6 block with d16y7 head so since my head and my block dont have a oil jet i need to add one into my block?

i have heard that no oil jet will cause to much oil to go to the head and not enough stays in the block which makes it spin rod berings..

i just need to know if i need to add oil jet lol.

I also just read that a y7 block has an open oil passage just like the y8/z6 block so does that mean the oil jet is in the head like the z6/y8 heads?

I would also use a Y7 head gasket, just incase there are any oil passages that need blocking, better to do it with the gasket then the head IMO.
