Default Gutting cat on DC5?

I'm not worried about emmisions here, you don't have to smog in my town. haha.. Anyway, would I benifit from gutting the cat? Or what about just deleting the resenator? I've heard it pretty restrictive. Bottom line here is, I want to free up my exhaust system, don't have alot of cash and don't want it too loud. I've heard the stock type s muffler flows well, so I was just thinking of clearing the path before the muffler. I mean eventually I'm picking up a cat-back system, just wonering in the mean time if there was anything I could do? Any recommendations?

No you aren't going to have any gains from gutting your cat. Just keep your cat on there like it is.

A test pipe will yield better performance than simply gutting the cat. Get the test pipe (do the o2 sim) and keep your cat in storage for when you either sell the car or for whatever reason need to put it back on. They get expensive if you need to buy a new one.

dont mess with the factory cat, we should all be concerned about the environment even if you live where there are no emmissions restrictions. if you want to gain a few more ponies then go with a free-flow cat or test pipe like others have sugested. you can also cut the resonantor and put in its place a straight pipe, but your best bet is to just replace the whole exhaust system with an aftermarket brand like Tanabe, HKS, Greddy, etc...

but also remember that just replacing the exhaust will not net you the best performance. its like plumbing, the flow in must match the flow out, and vice versa.
if you have a 3" pipe flowing water in and only a 1" pipe flowing out, then the system is restrictive. but if you match the pipes inlet and exit ( or intake and exhaust ) then the whole system operates to its maximum efficiency. so if you plan to upgrade the exhaust, upgrade your intake as well. AEM, injen, and ARC just to name a few, have dyno proven results to increase hp with a matched exhaust system.

I've been looking into the apex'i WS2. But can't find an RSR exmag. I've seen a pic with one on it but can't seem to find one for sale? I've found the rsr gt2, but that's too loud for me. Anyone know anything about this?

rsr exmag is really hard to find these days. really rare. the greddy sp2 or the ws2 are similar in sound.

i think prostreetonline.com has the exmag but it is really expensive. they quoted me almost 600 plus tax

it will add turbulence n **** in the exhaust flow and you actually might lose a little bit of power.

test pipe or resonated testpipe FTW
