Default Help on wheel/tyre sizes

In the next couple of weeks I shall be ordering my new rims. After a lot of ifs and buts I have decided on OZ superleggras (Thanks DutchITR1689 checked them out after you siad about them). The wheels are gonna be 16", what is the correct offset for these, also the bloke at the shop priced up at set of 195/45/16 profile tyres, do you think this is the correct size profile bearing in mind that at present I run 195/55/15?

You want an offset of +45 to +50, and tires you want 205/45-16 215/45-16 or 225/40 16 (although you'll rub with this if your car is lowered and you don't have at least +50 or so). The Superleggera is really pretty, good luck.

Edit: Only the 225 width will rub if you have less than +50. 215/45-16 on +50 offset is ideal, as this is the size and offset the Japanese ITR's come with.

205/45/16's would be a good tire choice for street. Definately dont go with 195anything. The offsets that Mike recommended sound good, enjoy.

Thanks for all your help, there is 1 thing the bloke at the shop where I may be getting the wheels from says the highest offset they do is +37. Any idea how I can get the offset increased??

You can't increase the offset, only decrease it with spacers....

Get 215/45R16 (stock '98 JDM ITR) or 205/45R16 tires.

So are you saying there is no way to get the superleggeras to the correct offset. Yeah ditched the 195 size, got a price for 205s. All I need is to clear me head over this offset thing. I am a little concerned because I am sure I had the wrong offset on my Astra and it handle worse than standard if that is possible and the thing used to tramline like mad

This offset problem is very common. Honda use +50 mm stock which is quite big.
You can't increase the offset of a rim, because you would have to move the hub to the outside. I don't know how it will handle with +37 mm. I won't be ideal, but many people here have +37 mm offset.

Nice 1 cheers for all your help. I shall just have to try with the 37 then and hope for the best. I must admit though from what I have read on HT it seemed everyone was running the correct offset. If thats not the case can someone who has 37 offset on 16s let me know what the handling is like over standard offset.

Most people here only care about whether it's rubbing or not. They don't care about the handling due to the wrong offset....
