help code 6 and vtec not poppin!!!!
im new to this whole racing seen and i just bought the car couple days ago. i have a 95 del sol, wit a complete b16b swap and im using a p28 ecu chipped. my vtec doesnt engage and my ecu is throwing code 6. pls help me..

Code 6 is your ECT (Electronic Coolant Temperature Sensor). There's a couple of requisites for VTEC to engage. You have to be going over a certain MPH (like 13 or some **** like that), you have to have over a certain oil pressure, you can't be in neutral, there's like 5 requirements that must be met. One of them is your temperature must be above 130*F or something to that effect (as 190* is standard operating temperature). If your ECT fails, then the ECU can't read what your coolant temperature is, therefore it won't engage VTEC as it will heir on the side of caution.
Basically you just change that sensor out and reset the ECU, the code will go away and VTEC will work again.
The ECT Sensor is located on the block right underneath where the upper rad hose goes into the block. It's a relatively narrow sensor with a thermometer type tip at the end of it.
On a personal note:
Your thermostat has nothing to do with your coolant temperature sensor.

what kind of Electronic Coolant Temperature Sensor should i buy? by the way i had to replace my thermostat it wasnt working... and i have one more question, do i need to hook up the nipple on the cylinder head to the intake? you knw what im talking about? cause the nipple frm the intake was just plug and the one on the cylinder head wasnt..
