you can use a flathead to open the hood if you need to get it opened. go study a friends hood to find out how to do it.

flathead is about your only option at this point unless the little ball that is on the end of the cable is still there and you have about a foot of cable you can yank on to open it.

i dont think you can take your bumper off unless the hood is open so you can get to the screws under the metal strip....never had the problem with me EF but im currently having the same problem with my daily EK......only thing i can figure is gettin underneath the car n try prying the latch with a flathead....

My hood latch has been broken since I got the car. I have to reach through the lower grill opening and feel around for the round thing with my thumb. To the left of that round thing there is a tiny little tab that you can push in with your thumb and then the hood will pop.

the bumper can be taken off with out the hood open, you just need to take off two bolts from each light on the bumper, after you took off the lights of course. and slammin i will try that, Thanks for the advise. And if it doesn not work , will a shop fix it for me and how much?

Do you guys have midget hands or just no AC condenser? I can't reach up high enough to feel the release at all.

What I found out that works is this. This is if and only if you can still pull the release cable with pliers or something and the cable resets to the position where it doesn't need to be pushed in with a flat surfaced item such as the flat part of a wrench or pliers...

OK... if you get a t handle wrench, which can be purchased at any hardware store for about 3 bucks or so, just attach it to the end where the plastic part broke off and you have an instant fix... takes half a second literally.....

now... if you have my problem which is that I didn't know about this quick fix and now my cable doesn't retract and I can't push it in, then I need to get the cable fixed which will be a you know what... but let's try it.
