Got my ITR motor installed
I bought my freinds crashed ITR and now putting all the parts on my 4 door GSR. Anyway I finally installed the motor into my car yesterday and its sweet but today when I was driving it on the freeway going 60 the car started to overheat very rapidly. So I pull over let it cool and drive off. It does it again in less then 5 minutes. I'm guessing the civic double pass radiator is a bit too small but it never over heated with my GSR motor. I checked the water height in the radiator and its okay. What is wrong? Could it be that there isn't enough anti freeze and too much water? Ohh and the motor runs perfectly fine when I'm just driving around the city but it only does this on the freeway going 60.

.....but i digress. check your thermostat, and make sure the fan is kicking on....those are two great places to start.
funny you act like an elitist ******* here in this thread
Try this:
Always check the most obvious/easliest thing - coolant level. A lot of times after a swap you may have a coolant leak and not even know it until later on (as in your case on the freeway). Check the lower radiator hose and youe heater hoses - those are usually the leaky spots.
If it has no leaks then you will need some more trouble shooting.
Crank the car and let it sit and warm up. Feel the lower radiator hose for heat and pressure.
If it's still cold but the temperature is still climbing then congradulations, you probably need just a thermostat which is an easy fix.
The fan(s) should not come on either if your thermostat is bad.
I'llbet you might have a coolant leak though since it overheats on the freeway where the fans don't really kick on anyways.
***EDIT***
00-187:
So maybe you had no useful info to offer, so you thought you could disguise that by being an *******.

Check your thermostat and check to see if you can add more water/coolant.. Sometimes there are air bubbles in the motor and TypeR motors do not have the bleeder like Civic motors..

I agree with everyone else so far.. you said coolant level was ok so I'd check out the thermo and fans.. I would also install a real radiator..
oh, and for 00-0187.. he's just continuing in his elitish ******* ways.. I'm honestly SHOCKED he didn't accuse this guy of being a thief too..

Make sure you have enought cooling liquide in the overflow reservoir next to the radiator. I had to add liquide twice in the reservoir before the complete cooling system was filled.

I think everyone who posted with the exception of 00-0187 answered your question. Good luck.
Everyday, my sympathy for ITR owners fades even more.
Wow there seems to be alot of hate going on. Anyway thank you all for the usefull information but the fans kick on but still it overheats. ohh thermostat is brand new too.
EDIT: The car is not stolen if you guys think it is I will be glad to post pictures of the car and give you the VIn and liscense plate numbers. I hate theives I had my ITR stolen too and downgraded to a GSR.

are you using the stock temp gauge or aftermarket?

No one said your chit was stolen. I said I'm shocked *******-0187 didn't accuse you of stealing it.

Aaron,
If you're using a Civic radiator with an Integra upper radiator hose, you can't use a stock radiator hose clamp to mate the two since the neck of the Civic radiator is smaller than that of the Integra hose. If you're losing coolant through this connection, that would cause the overheating.
If you need anymore help later on, I'm always willing to help.

mine did the same thing when we fixed it. Just run the car and let it idle, pouring lots of water in the radiator and make sure the fans kick on..
