Default Heat/Coolant/Temperature sensor

Is there more than one temperature sensor?
I have a d16a6

My temperature gage is not working. The gage is fine, if I put power on it, it goes up. The wire is broken near the distributor, and I can't find where it goes. I found a sensor near the alternator, but the wires looks fine. Thanks.

The sensor for the gauge is below the distributor its a one wire sensor on the head its not near the alt thats the oil pressure switch, fan switch and knock sensor if the car has a knock sensor the d16a6 should not have one. I would check the sensors on the head near the dist.

Yes there is a plug in there, but there are 2 wires in it and none of them are broken, there is no space for a third wire, or is there? Is it in the plug in or in a different place? Because we did look very thoroughly. Thanks.

Thermostat housing or above the oil filter (2 wires) = Radiator Fan Relay

Single wire sensor under the distributor = Dash Temp Gauge

Two wire sensor under the distributor = ECU
