HELP..... EXTREMELY HIGH RPM AT IDLE
I Just Did A B18c1 Engine Swap Into My Car. I Put In A New Skunk 2 Intake Manifold While I Was At It. When I Start The Car, My Rpms Surge To Around 5-6k Rpms. Can The Manifold Be Causing This??
When I Took The Factory Manifold Off There Was That Paper Gasket Stuck There. I Tried Scraping It Off, But There Still Some Left Over. I Also Put A New Intake Manifold Gasket On. Thank You

You have a vacuum leak. Most likely caused by the gasket material you left on the head when installing your new manifold. Too much unregulated air getting into the engine = high RPM. You can use a can of brake cleaner to spray around the manifold flange where it mates to the cylinder head, as well as where the throttle body mounts to the manifold. As you spray pay attention to the rpm of the engine. When you spray near your vacuum leak, the engine will suck up the extra fuel through the leak and rev in response.
My advice would be to take the manifold back off, and make sure you have a perfectly clean surface on the head. Re install your manifold and throttle body with a new intake manifold and throttle body gasket.

THANX SOARING CHIMP.... THE ONLY THING IS WHEN I TURN MY CAR ON I DONT HAVE TIME TO RUN UP AND DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. WHEN I TURN MY CAR ON, IT SKYROCKETS TO THE REDLINE POINT.IDK GUYS, IDK.
If your engine is revving out like you say you have a BIG air leak. Make sure all your vacuum hoses are connected correctly and that your throttle body is installed and adjusted correctly.

have someone help you. start the car and have them cover the throttle body with their hand to close it off. if it still revs up you have a MAJOR vacuum leak!! take the manifold off and clean all that old gasket off. should be good to go then. i'd get the Hondata intake gasket as it works great for me and if i ever take it off i don't have to worry about scraping old gasket off. and i have no leaks... works great. they have cheaper ones than the hondata one on ebay and they work just as good. good luck!

I never thought of that... thanks for the idea. So if the the RPMs still go up with the throttle body completely covered, I must have a leak some in the manifold right??
If your car starts up and jumps right up to redline, I'd be more inclined to check your throttle linkage and make sure it's adjusted properly and not causing your throttle plate to stick open! After it checks out ok, start looking for air leaks.

U.P.D.A.T.E...... I put a cover over the throttle body completely so no air would pass through it. It is still spiking!!!! I am making a clear assumption there is a vacuum leak. I have a feeling I messed up when I didnt scrape all the old gasket off and then put the new manifold gasket on.
make sure all the air is out of the cooling system. and make sure all the ground straps have good contact with the motor. plus check the ground on the thermostat housing for corrosion. i fixed my b18c's idle problem by repairing that ground connection

i would have to agree with him.. check throttle cable then i would move to vacuum leaks,

U.P.D.A.T.E..... IT IS FIXED!!!!! I took the intake manifold off and used an air grinder with light grit to shave off the remains of the old gasket. I guess putting on a new manifold and new gasket over the old gasket left-overs was a bad idea. Thank you for all of you guys help.

knew it was that.. happens all the time... has to be a VERY clean surface with no old gasket in order to seal. glad to see you got it fixed...
