Default electrical problem....why cant cars ever be easy?

ok sooo i have a 1988 CRX Dx i juss swapped an EG D15B VTEC motor into it everything is running but there is some major electrical issues. first off when im driving, the car will die out because its running strictly off the battery and not the alternator, i had the alternator tested and its fine, ALSO my horn doesnt work when i push on the button for the horn it doesnt make a sound HOWEVER the instrument panel will start to light up the temp guage will go all the way up and my over head light dims out. SOME ONE HELP cuz im about to go crazy

have you double checked all your grounds did you splice some wires that may have some of the wire showing causing it to come in to contact and sorting

all my grounds are fine but my thought is that there may be exposed wires for the horn and instrument panel that are touching causing the horn not to sound but for my panel to light up
