Default whats the difference between the b18a1/b18b1

I was just curious i've heard alot about the b18b1 but what about the a1 what are the differences?

Is it possible to have a 99 gsr transmission bolted up to the a1 bottom? and lastly how do i find out what tranny i have and where??

I think you bolt up any b-series tranny to a b-series block, but you need the cable to hydro conversion for the tranny to work correctly. 90-93 used cables, where as 94+ was hyrdo. Usually there's a barcode sticker on the tranny right by the engine code. If the tranny code was removed, I'm pretty sure there are other ways to find out what tranny it is, but not 100% sure.
