Default 1.85L set-up blown...what's next?

Hi guys,

My motor died on me last august and now im doing a complete rebuilt...and my first choice was to go 1.9L(82mm)...how should the difference be overall compared to my 81.5mm built??? I will have same header, same cams, same CR ratio(12:5:1), same ported head...i just need to re-sleeved the damaged sleeve and i dont know if the 82mm is going to be a good choice overall???

Thanks in advance for your suggestions
Mike

If you're planning on resleeving why not go 84mm or bigger? You'll have at least a 2.0L

all-mtr-teg is right, if your going to sleeve then you should go to 84 mm.
wiseco piston 11:5 compression

What type of cams, header, exhaust?

SMSP Header design for a 1.8L motor not a 2.0L...Cams are JUN 3, exhaust is the RS-R GT2 catback system...

Those parts are pretty good.

Sounds like all you really need is a short block re-sleeve and rebuild.

But actually i only need one sleeve re-done and the other one's are fine...after i need to oversized...so i guess the 82mm is my best choice if i dont wanna spend another 1000$ on a dart block...

Your cheapest option is to pick up another LS block and buy one new piston. Dont spend the money to have the sleeved repaired when the price of another LS block is so low.

that sounds like your best bet. . .for a bore n hone it shouldnt cost more than like 100 bucks. LS blocks also go for around 100-200 bucks ne who

I prefer to keep my ITR block!!! I will only repair the sleeve and bore it to 82mm with Wiseco 82mm pistons!!! The main question was not to see if i wanna change my block...it was only to know if the feeling of my motor will change a lot and is the power gonne be almost the same???

Similar. You will not notice any difference.

What happened to the motor?

sorry i was under the impression that you had an LS block, not an ITR. Since u have an itr block i would want to keep it to, for the simple fact it says b18c5. . .=P, as for the change from 81.5-82mm, almost no change at all, maybe pick up a lil tq n some hp, but thats about it.

2.0L is where its at in the all motor field

A single sleeve, back to stock is $80.00-$100.00. It just replaces what was there, not putting in Darton or GE sleeves on all cylinders.

I know...ive called my builder...i was thinking he had to re-done all the sleeves...so i will stick 82mm instead of 84mm!!!

Cause I said so, christ do some research. The life of anything is dependant of the quality of parts, use and treatment. It shure the hell wont hold up any less to a dropped valve than your last motor.

Type Argh for life
