Are you keeping the car stock? How much knowledge do you have in diagnosing/fixing problems?

When you get the engine, you might want to pull the tranny and inspect everything. How many miles on the engine?

As far as money it is hard to say. You might drop the engine in and never have a problem. You might drop the engine in and have nothing but problems.

Hard to say...

Regardless of a car or anything- you should have a rainy day fund... Perhaps save the $ you have now and do the swap in another year.

Just think everything through before you make a final decision.

Expect to spend at least an extra $1000. You'll see what I mean if you do decide to do it.

they average 35000 miles it says. and i have 192000 miles on my engine now. I'm going to keep it pretty much stock it is just my DD. I am under a time crunch because of plans so I'm not going to be able to wait a year or so its gotta be done before August. As far as diagnosing and all this would be my first big thing. But i'm going to be doing it with someone who knows what they are doing I'm pretty much going to be a "helper" lol.

You would use whatever clutch came in there? That seems like asking for more money spent in the future. I mean how long does it take to do a clutch when the setup is outside the car?

i just checked and theres two choices one is "complete" which includes
- Axles with Half Shaft
- Shifter Cables
- Shifter Assembly
- Stock Motor Mounts *

but would i need that or could i just save the 300 by using those h23 parts?
also i've been thinking about new clutch and belts and things but i'm going to see what i want to change out once i get the engine.

also both come with
- Motor
- Hydraulic Tranny
- ECU (P13)
- Alternator
- Starter
- Clutch
- Flywheel
- Intake Manifold
- Exhaust Manifold
- Fuel Rail
- Injectors
- Distributor
- Engine Harness
- Comes With All Sensors Needed

You don't need the complete thing, just the second option. All of that stuff in the first list is compatible both ways, as long as your car is MT.

Ill just give the basic list of things you should change at a minimum. Tbelt, water pump, clutch, plug wires, plugs, thermostat. And check rear main seal while doing clutch, check pan gasket while its all apart, might as well get a new valve cover seal set since youll be taking that off for the timing belt. Maybe do the oil pump? since your gonna have an empty engine bay, maybe think about your clutch master and slave cylinders, if you ever debating losing power streeing now is the time etc. Also decide which ecu you want, the jdm it will come with, or a usdm. also do you want the h22 gearing or just the same gearing your h23 has? all things to decide before you buy the engine.

Don't forget the oil cooler o-ring. I had that thing go on me. That wasn't pretty. Within a few minutes of a change it was all on the ground.

Don't forget about the balancer seal. Last time it took 15km to puke out the half of oil on the fresh timing belts :/
