Default -H23 engine-

I here a lot of talk about the "H22 swap", as in engine replacement. What about, my H23A? What can anyone tell me about my engine.....In general?
Like what to pay attention to? Specifics of problems acquainted with the H23A, and so forth. I know the question isn't very specific, but I'm just woundering why the H22 holds such a value to you guys on the forum.
Thanks,
-Shadow-

Technically, the H23A is the VTEC engine from the Accord Euro R. Your Si engine is an H23A1 DOHC non-VTEC...there is definately a difference.

Your H23 is the same engine block and intake system as an H22, but it does not have the VTEC system and does not rev as high (safely ). It's basically an H22 without VTEC and it makes it's torque a bit sooner than an H22. You can easily get as much power from an H23 with a few mods.

I am keeping my H23 for sure...it's a good engine.

Thanks,
Now I get a better idea. Besides the a good tune up, intake, and exhaust, what other type of mods can be looked into, as to better performance for the H23A1.
Thanks again,

Unless you boost, the 3 most important things you can do for that engine.

Header/exhaust
higher compression
camshafts

A little ingenuity and those three mods got me to 200whp and 183wtq after tuning.

Get Randy to make me a prototype header and we will see what else we can come up with... I got a slightly larger TB installed now too. Should help a little more.

If I were into drag racing without a filter I could try a nice big velocity stack too and see how that works open header.

After the headers and exhaust, How would you create higher compression?
Thanks...

Internals. I'm in the same boat you are...Is it a good "all motor" engine? I don't wanna put out 1500 for an h22

i would put out 1500 for a h22..... H23's are junk, unless boosted right (no corners cut) I would take a all motor h22, over a all motor h23 anyday.....

That's a pretty narrow mind.

If I had an H23 and $1500 to blow I could make an H23 that would kick an H22 swap's ***. You're wrong on the H23 being junk.

Well I'm not trying to take over this post but it has helped me if I decide to get an h23. I currently have an f22 motor and I plan on getting a swap as soon as I can but I dont know which motor I should go with. To me they both seem like great motors. I do want to boost in the future so thats something im keeping in mind. What motor would you guys go with in yall's opinion knowing that its going to end up getting boosted? Sry Shadow if this takes over your post. Any opinions would help.

h23's are more commonly boosted, and i've heard its safer than to boost an h22.

last i "heard"....compression on the h23 is better.....thus the boost ~ H22 has vtec "vtec" Turbo technology...doesn't allow for the greater "safer" boost.....correct me if i'm wrong...
