CRX ETD traction bar vs Innovative traction bar
Ok so when i did my b16 swap i bought an ETD racing traction bar made in canada. I installed it and since it has the Heim joints its quit noisy!! It creaks and squeaks all the time and yes i tighten everything. I was looking at the innovative crossmember that uses the stock radius rods.
Was thinking this has to reduce the noise level. Also noticed innovative offers the b16 front tranny mount option which should reduce vibrations i think????
Any input would help, Thinking to sell the ETD and get something thats Daily drivable! Is there something better than the innovative?? Looking for answers from those who have some of these bars on there cars or had them on there please

Yeah i read that awhile ago but jimfab is no longer made. Doesn't poll on the innovative or etd. Useless in my case but thanks

The ETD uses Heim joints. Not hemi.
The ETD is a traction bar. (to eliminate wheel hop)
The Innovative is a crossmember. (to add clearance for a motor swap)
I would assume the Innovative is a stock replacement bar that wouldn't squeak. but I wouldn't expect to hook up as well as the ETD when launching your car. but you should have a better setup than stock when adding their upgraded bushings.
Replacement front crossmember. Designed to give more front clearance for an 88-91 civic or CRX. Clears all factory and aftermarket headers. Factory radiator may be used or 92-00 Civic half size radiator. Add Innovative Mounts radius rod bushing kit to transform into a traction control kit. Now Features a front mount point for 4 mount applications. Add optional front mount for hi-torque engines. Front mounts are available for B series engines or D series engines.

Well a traction bar eliminates wheel hop but has to serve as a crossmember since you removed your factory one. I have no wheel hop at all now but i don't race at the track.
So how does innovative's bushings make there crossmember act like a traction bar?? Are they just real stiff??
Will that extra mount make the car vibrate less???

traction bar can be a crossmember
but
a crossmember isn't necessarily a traction bar

True, lol, since a crossmember really can't eliminate wheel hop on its own.
I just want something with no noise problems and clears my jdm header.
I would rather not use heim joints for daily driver. Dirt, snow, and salt will kill them anyway!

Basically, the ETD is a replacement crossmember that uses heim joints at the ends of the radius rods. This prevents the fore/aft movement which is supposed to eliminate wheel hop.
The Innovative is also a repalcement crossmember that uses stock radius rods but with (optional) stiff bushings. This also helps with wheel hop, but since it is a poly bushing, there is still a small amount of play, which may equate to some hop, i guess.
If you stand back and look at them, though, all the difference is how the crossmember is attached to the lower control arms. Not much else.
EDIT: And just to warn, adding the front mount apparently adds to the vibrations, not take away like you were hoping.

Well if that mount is useless there is no point in getting it. Think i will spend the money elsewhere.
Its weird cause everyone swears by the full race bar and it also uses heim joints. but they say they have 0 noise. How could that be when ETD uses the same joints with tons of noise??

well, as i stated in the other thread, my etd bar makes no noise whatsoever. can you take a pic of how you have it installed? also, they came out with new heim joints with inserts inside, im not sure if they'll make a big diffrence but maybe if you contact them, the'yll be able to upgrade you with the new joints.
i have a etd bar and i dont really like it the mounting holes dont exactly line up well under the car. the gen 3 bars are thick but if your car is lowered your crank pulley cuts a grove in it and rubs in any moderate to heavy cornering. i am only dropped 2.25 on lowering springs i am going to get another innovative one this week and just upgrade the bushings and the clearance on the etd sucks it barely clear my 2.5 inch down pipe and now i am getting a 3 inch and it has to go and alscrx is right it does squeek like hell
i run the same one ETD my does mak nose too n i think it very nosiy n they say it well clear the header but it doesnt im run b18 wit 421 header n i hav to hammer my header in lillte bit to able to fit
Hey quis84, my brother loves his skunk2 exhaust! Thanks again man

I had to enlong one side to make it fit. Mine is the latest generation and is the "race" bar. Supposed to be chromoly as opposed to their "street"
I mean its just not meant for quiet and comfort and daily driver is out of the question if you ask me. Also i noticed you have to adjust those rods perfect or your wheel won't be centered in the wheel well!!
