A couple queries for the gurus on the board:
1) While changing the oil in my 90 Si hatch with 120,000 miles on it, I found pretty significant metal shavings in my oil pan.
I know this is not a good sign - probably main or rod bearings, but nothing is knocking or blowing up yet. How safe is it to drive it like that?
2) What is the most economical way to go about rebuilding the motor? Should I just tear it down and replace the bearings, or do I absolutely have to have it honed and whatnot? Would I be better off just looking for a replacement a6 to swap it with? This is my daily, so down time is not really an option.
3) I have a 97 Lx sedan that was in a small accident earlier this year and has been sittting for about 8 months. It started and ran fine after the accident, although I could not drive it due to some front-end damage, broken windshield and deployed airbags. Damage is now repaired and I replaced the battery and tried to start it.... nothing. Jumped it with the wife's car.... nothing. It turns over, but it does not seem to be firing. Any ideas? It would be nice to have the sedan while getting the hatch back in order. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
