Brake squeal
I have some Hawk HPS brake pads that are about 3 months old. Today I went into the mountains for some driving and about half way, my brakes started making a squealing noise like racing pads but quieter. The braking performance is the same though. I have only pushed them hard once before for about 2 hours and during street driving I'm not hard on them at all. Is that normal for the HPS pads? I would think they would last a bit longer.
Is this a serious question? Does it sound like a metal to metal squeal? Or more of a Higher performance brake squeal? If your not sure its pretty simple to just take a glance at the brake pad.
take it apart spray it off with brake clean, inspect for cracking or uneven waer or whatever anything out of the ordinary replace what needs to be replaced ie if pads have eneven waer then replace calipers ect! then put it all back together and use PERMATEX ANIT SQUEEL in the rattle can nothing works better for quiteting brakes and follow the directions
