Default Best OBDII Scanner?

Finally going to break down and buy a OBDII scanning tool and just wondered if anybody had any recomendations or other input as to what to get. Primarily I'm looking for feedback on quality and reliability as opposed to suggesting an actual model. There's so many brands out there and I don't want to drop a couple hundred bucks just to find out it's some cheap Taiwan piece of garbage that's going to fall apart or frap out on me. I'm looking to get something in the lower to mid range area like about $150.00 to $200.00. Probably one that hooks up to a laptop so I can do more than just read a generic code. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Bryan

actron is a pretty decent brand. a scanner i believe for OBDII that reads the code and what it means is $90 but dont quote me. you can find them at advanced or pepboys if you need it as soon instead of ordering it online

Your not going to find anything that reads more than just obd2 codes for less than around 500. A good scanner is going to be atleast around 1000 and thats just for the lower end scan tools.

You need a enhanced scanner to read the dealer codes as well, other wise, just go to AutoZone and get it done for free, dont waste 200 and dont spend 2000.
