Default no low end power only at 5-6k i have power

i have a 88 prelude si vtec 4ws and when i drive i have no power until its at about 5-6k its almost as if im holding the clutch in when im not at all.
when i hit 5-6k it takes off pretty quick but i need to know whats wrong with this
it has some custom exhaust pipe on it and it has a new clutch in it and a few other new things when i bought it.
it doesnt bother me too much except i have to rev it to 5-6k everytime to get it going and its really loud with the muffler on it

Ok, firstly, did you mean '98? '88 never had a vtec AFAIK.

Anyways, its gonna take more info than this to track down a possible cause. Let me know about what engine we're actually talking about and we'll take it from there.

Whoa whoa guys. It is not necessarily the clutch.

Do you mean that it literally does not move at all until you get to 5k rpm?

or do you mean that it bogs like hell in the low end?

i can have it in gear and let the pedal off and it wont stall so its def the clutch

Yes indeed.

Before replacing it, try having the lines bled or adjusting the pedal.
