Default camera shy plates...

so I was looking at getting camera shy plates for my bike. here in the UK they arent road legal but its a £30 ($64) fine if i get caught with them. I drive past 3 speed camera 2 times a day to and from work. I really dont try to speed but its just a matter of time before i go 2mph over and yes they will tag you with a £60 fine for that and points on my license. For the record I would get these for "show purpose"

no but seriously, ive heard of them but just wondering how they work, if they work, whats your thoughts on them?

Instead of doing that - there are several gps systems available over there that have a database of the cameras loaded. You get close, it beeps. Slow down, pass, then speed up. I'll see if I can find a name for one.

I saw that episode. Great show. Yeah, they proved that speed cameras can read license plates clearly with different types of detection-avoidance products. They pretty much all failed in hiding the plates.

+1

Did you guys see the followup episode where they sent a jet powered car past the speed camera? Apparently, it went so fast that the camera didn't even trigger. So there you have it. To beat the speedcams, strap rockets to your bikes/cars/rollerblades.

Take your plate off. They can't take a picture of what you don't have!

I would steal someone's plate, then use that on my bike. Have it set up so you can flip it out of the way if you need to. But that's only if I lived in the UK.

I missed that episode of MB. Did they try the trick that involves bending the plate a little bit so the light from the flash supposedly refracts off the plate?

this is all one big sad story... i think ill look into that gps thing. what really sucks is that they still use random unmarked/parked cars with cameras in them

i guess ill just really need to try and obey the "posted speed limit"

Top Gear tested it before Mythbuster and only took a TVS Tuscan to achieve it.

I dont know what they did on the show, but since a plane's acceleration is relative to air speed, being on a treadmill wouldnt matter.
