Default Last minute Honda Challenge race prep chaos..

Does anyone know where I can find an 18" resonator and get it to Raleigh, NC by Wed.? Neither Racer Parts Wholesale or Jeg's have 18" resonators with 2.5 in/out. I am trying to install a JDM 4-1 header in time for the race this weekend but it is not looking good at this point. Also, would the 12" Dynomax bullet muffler be that much louder than the 18" resonator?

Thanks,
Chris

check the local muffler shops.. they should have something that could be used as a resonator... if not weld 2 glass packs (from pepboyz) together.

What is the definition of a resonator? Both Jeg's and Racer Parts Wholesale said "what is a resonator" when I asked if they had one. Then I said, like a Dynomax race bullet muffler or glasspack I guess. To which they respond that they have that in "12" but that is it.

a straight thru muffler like a glass pack but much more efficient.

I think the normal lengths are ~20" to 30" in length.

Ok. Where do people purchase them? I have yet to talk to anyone who has a clue what one is, much less where to get one.

Thanks,
Chris

Yeah, R & J did the exhaust on my turbo Prelude. What messed me up is this "resonator" term everyone was using over at the Honda Challenge board. Anyone that seems to know anything about exhaust thinks I am on crack when I mention a resonator and R & J was no exception. R & J does have 18" glasspacks and I will go pick one up. He laughed at me when I said a resonator was "a straight thru muffler like a glass pack but much more efficient." I mean, how do you get more efficient than straight through?

Corey,

I did email Dave today. But I don't trust anyone to meet me at the track with my exhaust. What if it does not fit or someone forgets it? And I don't want to work on my car and especially not under my car at the track if I can help it. I have seen far too many cars fall off of jackstands at the track.

Chris

working on the car, not a problem.. put the back wheels on the ground, leave the front on the trailer, and work on it.. Dave knows honda exhaust systems like the back of his hand, it will fit
