2008 Drive by Wire Hesitation
I found responses for 06-07(searched).... that it was still present....on 07's(hesitation)
does this hold true for the 08...to those that have them, or test driven them?
If it is still present, is there a fix for it?
i.e. ecu tuning of some sort?

i have an 07 and i have a hesitation, but i heard you can go to the dealership and have them reflash your ecu and it will fix the problem.
Yeah.....last thing I heard was that they fixed it on the 07s and well I really don't have any issues with it.
So if your looking into the 08s I say go for it.
On the same note the reflash was to fix the 06 rev hang.

I've had an 08 for more than a month. Hiccuped when i got it, chokes now that i have a CAI on it especially when i floor it at low RPMS.
Pretty annoying. Do the dealerships charge you for the reflash? Or is the "reflash" that thousand dollar box that allows you to constantly waste gas?

no reflash for your 08, like someone else said it was only for 06 cars
when the CAI was installed did you disconnect the battery? let it idle for about 10 minutes after reconnecting? what brand CAI?

Unfortunitely, with Drive-by-wire, at least in these cars, your going to have "some" hesitation. I have an 06 and the hesitation was horrible when I first got the car. I took it back and had the dealer reflash the ECU with the update (before the supercharger was installed) and the hesitation was much better. There was still some hesitation, but nothing like it was when I got the car.
After installing the Supercharger, I had the ECU reflashed again (special reflash for the Supercharger). The hesitation got even better, but even now, I still get a little hesitation.
I don't think there is way to completely eliminate it. However, after a while you will get use to it and not even notice it.

Ya the pause isn't really all that bad, i don't go to the track or anything so i can live with it.
I had the CAI (Ingen) put on by a pro whose been i the business for 14 years. Although i feel i can trust that he or his employees did it right, there's no way to be sure i guess. The problem arises only when i smash the pedal straight off of a low speed coast. Happens especially before its warm. I just did it a few times, maybe thats not awesome for the car's engine in the first place...

Oh, and i just put an order in for the Medalion Touring. Wonder if that'll help with the flow an all. Either way...PSYCHED!
This mod stuff sure is addictive. Anyone have a patch i can put on my shoulder? Maybe i should just let nature take its course. cheers

i'm driving an 07 and i haven't noticed anything,until
i have read this thread, but i guess i can live with it
since i am IMMUNED to such flaw already anyways.
07 does have it. I have the problem here and there. They did fix it for 07.5 and 08, but I have a newer "gen" 0o7 and I suffer with it. Quick stabs to the pedal is also a problem when trying to rev match. I just get used to it I guess.
07 Si sedan purchased in march and I have it. It's bad enough that I realized recently that when I rev match, I actually tap the accelerator BEFORE I put in the clutch. The lag is present enough that when I get to putting in the clutch, the RPMs just then start rising.
o.k. so there is a factory reflash for the older 06-07's but not for 08....correct....
and there is still some hesitation in the 08's
does hondata play w/ the dbw at all?
they state on their website that Honda has done the reflashes on the earlier models, but they do not state if they can control the dbw parameters....
"Important upgrade
Honda has released an upgrade for the 06 Civic Si ECU. As of August 1 2006 Hondata has incorporated these changes 06 Civic Si reflash. the 07 model incorporates this fix. Honda lists the problems addressed as:
Hesitation in first gear
RPM hang when shifting "

So press down the clutch and mash the gas pedal. Then release the clutch after the rpms jump about 2K. It happens faster than you think. Even at 5mph if you do that you'll light your tires up and get up to speed pretty damn quick. Although I would only recommend something like that if you absolutely need to do it....such as in your instance.
In other cases however...people just have to suck it up. The car wasn't designed to have alot of torque. That's the biggest reason it doesn't get up to speed quickly at low rpms....not because of the DBW hesitation.

No if your doing around 5mph and you "mash the gas pedal" nothing happens... The clutch pedal is all the way to the floor and nothing happens when you hit the gas... It's not a matter of torque, is a matter of the car not letting the driver do what he wants because the damn throttle body stays shut when you hit the gas... Trust me, I was pressing the clutch to let the RPM's spike so that I could dump the clutch and get the hell out of the way...
