FAILED emissions... (need help....)
Hi, I went in for my WI emission test and failed.
HC 2.74 & the limit was .800
CO 15.24 limit was 15.00
NOx as 2.40 limit 2.00.
It has a idle issuse when it warms up as well... Idle jumps and is super high... I dont hear any vaccum leaks... What could be the issuse? IAC, EGR, O2 sensor (witch is brand new!)
Let me know ...
Thanks

Sorry i don't have any answers for you, but you levels don't seem too bad.
I'm sure with someones advice on here, you should be able to get it down to acceptable levels.

WTF was the point of that?
I know in IL cars before '96 are exempt. You simply need to re register your license plates. If you can't I would try throwing on a different throttle body and see what happens.

Well I dont want to reregister the car... that is at least another $120.00 and the car woud still have an idle issuse.... Im sure if I fix the idle it will pass...

Yes, it is running rich. You have poor combustion = CO and you have Nox which is combustion temps that are higher than 2500 degrees.
Your idle is high. You need to check into this more. IACV cleaning? vacuum leak?
If a vacuum leak, it will raise your HC's because the ECU is thinking it is lean and trying to compensate. Also if Vacuum leak is related to just one or two cyl, You might be having misfires which will raise HC and CO.
Lastly is Nox which you should not have being that your HC's are way up.
Things to check...
Vacuum leak
Exhaust leak
IACV cleaning
Timing and or tune-up.
Valve adj?
You mentioned EGR? does your car have one?

I pulled off the iacv and cleaned it with the last bit of carb clean... the idle was good last night but when I drove it today the idle was high again... it didnt seem as high as when I took it to emissions... Seems the motor is blow some smoke too (only when you get on it...)
