when my 91 hatch gets a lil bit below the half tank point it trys to shut off

 

Does it have an aftermarket fuel pump? I have seen where aftermarket pumps sont stick down as far as stock ones and get the gas from the bottom of the tank.

 

You are going to have to provide a little more information that what you posted. Does this only happen at below half/tank? Does it only happen when driving the car hard, or does it also happen when you are barely on the throttle? When it tries to shut off, does the car slowly lose power? Or is it a really fast surge like feel? Does the problem increase as you get lower on fuel, go up hills or around sharp corners?

it feels like its goin to stall when im comin to a stop but its only when the car get to a half tank any higher then that the car runs fine......
