just like the title says.....what exactly is "index your main caps"???this is regarding the idea of putting a block girdle onto a B20B block. Does it just bolt on???

 

probably talking about doweling the girdle to the caps like the caps are to the block. thats my guess but i dont know why someone would call that indexing.

 

thanks a lot for your response....so basically, they machine a larger hole in each of the main caps where the girdle bolts to and the girdle itself and use a small cylinder inside that to keep it in place??? like the brackets that hold the cams in place??? Sorry im not very familiar with the exact technical terms.

 

most girdles are already machined for the dowels. your main caps are gonna have to be machined for the dowels unless you just dont want to use the dowels which is pointless. if you want to run a gsr girdle #3 main will have to have some extra machine work cause it is taller. hope this helps.
