d16z6 in a 2000 civic? need some help!
i just bought a d16z6 engine for my civic 2000,
i had a 1.6l d16 NON-vtec
now its a 1.6l VTEC
will the VTEC worked if i use my old ECU?
and its weird cuz on the motor head it doesnt say vtec but i checked over the internet and all d16z6 are vtec... can anyone confirm that for me
thx

yes the d16z6 is vtec motor
I'm speaking out my *** on this. and it will probably come back to bite me... but I think you are gonna have some issues, putting a obd1 motor in a obd2 car. the computer will be at least looking for a 2nd o2 sensor, you will have to wire up the vtec, and i think get an ECU for a d16z6
most people don't back convert to an older engine.
allright so the best thing to do for me is to get a d16z6 ecu??? cuz i can get one on eb*y right now... anyone can confirm this for me? and are u sure that my 2000 SE civic is obd2?
and other than than do you think ill have other issues... ?
I would definetly do some searches and research before doing anything. and don't depend on only what I said..... you need to do some research.
there are some conversion harness on the web:

i got a civic 2000 with a D-series transmission , and i just bought a d16z6 engine.. the only thing i want to know is if i got the Z6 ECU will i be able to install that in my car without any other issues
thx
thx
i believe that you can use the obd2 engine harness on the obd1 z6 motor. youlll just need to get a obd2-obd1 distributor adapter @ rywire.com i think, every thing else should plug in. now when it comes to the ecu, you may need a obd2-obd1 ecu conversion harness and of course the respective p28 obd1 ecu.
do some more research before you go off doing what we told you, do the research to verify...

I put a Z6 in my 96 after throwing a rod in my LX/VTEC.
You'll need the complete Z6 longblock
OBD2B-OBD1 conversion harness
P28 ECU
some wire to wire in VTEC
OBD2B 240cc injectors
92-95 fuel filter
Repin the dist plug (two of them have to be spliced).
