Default Wierd Noise at Idle

This recently started happening, out of nowhere. If im sitting at a red light, car in gear, clutch depressed, everything sounds fine. the second i put it into neutral and let go of the clutch, this low pitched whine is heard until i press down the clutch again. the only thing that happened to the car recently, is my muffler tip fell off but that cant be it. what can this be?

It would drive fine in the initial stages of the bearing going bad, depending on the situation.

Whoa whoa hold on.

I misread your post.

You have one of two problems, either your throwout bearing is going bad, or your input shaft bearing is.

Apologies.

Does the sound get louder with rpm?

A loose belt will be a lot louder than a "whistle," it will be more like a "squeal".

I'm willing to bet it is the throwout bearing, but try just putting it in neutral, letting the clutch out, and revving it, see if you can hear what the sound does.
