Default wiring a tach....PLS HELPP

i have the 94 prelude vtec with h22 and currently swapped to h23 tranny.....i recently installed an AUTOGAUGE tach......and a friend said to wire the green wire from the tach to the green wire on the distributor and that had to be wrong cuz when i was redlining at 8500 ma tach was reading like 3500......so i pulled the green wire out and im waiting to find out which wire to splice it into or do you know a better way to wire it?....PLS HELP ME

Punctuate.

The wire you want is blue. It is much easier just to tap into it right at the stock tach.

i think why it was reading wrong maybe you didnt cut the wires on the back of the tach i think brown and white those are if you have a v-8 you leave them but for 4 you cut them
