throw out or input shaft bearing....

Default throw out or input shaft bearing....

d16y8...99 ex coupe....

i get a funny noise like a ticking noice when the clutch is out

but when i push it in, it stops.....

but when i drive into first it sounds as if there is a whinding noise..

as if the motor is whinding up...?

any help?....


thinking its either input shaft or throwout bearing?...

Throwout bearing makes noise with the pedal pressed. Input shaft bearing and case bearings make noise with the clutch out. Search.

Input shaft bearing.

Check the fluid level and drive it and start saving your money...

Its your input shaft bearing. It will only get worse the more you drive it. Eventually the bearing will bust apart and possibly ruin the rest of your transmission. I had this problem before. Here is the write up that convinced me that I could do it myself. It is a complete walkthrough with pics. Good luck!
