Default NO CRANKIN

89 Civic si with a Y8 motor. I checked all the grounds. Replaced the battery and starter and Bypassed clutch switch. Pulled starter out again, tested it and its fine. I turn the key i dont hear the fuel pump prime nor does the CEL light come on and blink for a few seconds and go off. The only ground wire that i have a concern about is the one by the starter. Its grounded to one of the bolts for the v-tec solenoid. Is that okay or do i need to mount it to the starter. let me know guys thanks

Theres a major ground wire for your engine harness on the thermostat housing, if that one isn't grounded properly you will hear a i-i-i-i-i-i-i-i buzz noise from your main relay which is near your hood release. I would check the alternator something fuse thats under the dash, its a common one to blow when doing a swap and when it blows you wont get cranking or fuel pump action. if the ground wire on your starter wasn't hooked up correctly you would still hear the relay click on and fuel pump humm then relay click off at the same time your check engine light turns off but you'd get no starter action.

If it did run, and then its bucked like a horse and died and wouldn't start back up I would check the cap and rotor. When the rotor starts to let go it starts sending spark at the wrong time to the wrong cylinder, it will kick bog buck usually let you accelarate real hard for a second then the rotor will spin free on its shaft and die, plastic rotor will no longer be in sync with its shaft and it wont start back up... Thats what it sounds like to me anyway. Theres also a sensor behind the rotor that can come apart, when that lets go it looks like a waad of copper wire all tangled up, if you see that you need a new distributor all together.
