Lighting problem.
Hey guys. I noticed the other day that my running lights are not working as well as the lights for my instrument cluster. They work when used as a turn signal and the brakes light up when the pedal is depressed, Just not when in the 'dim' mode. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

1st off...as a newbie...just to let you know...if you have an issue and wish to ask a question and post a thread...please put in the year, make, and model of the vehicle you speak of along with ANY modifications you may have. the more info you give us off the bat...the quicker and better we can help you out. for example you are having some sort of electrical problem...you might want to list any electrical mods you may have...for example alram/remote start, stereo, gauges, turbo timer, or just about anything else that may be tied into your cars' existing wiring that is not stock.
now...
when you say running lights...do you mean parking lights as in the 1st position of your headlight switch??? if so...1st thing to do would be to check your fuses for continuity with a digital multimeter. if all fuses check out ok...you have to do a little dissassembly to find out what is next...mostly just the underdash knee bolster. a lot of times...an alarm that has been installed kinda crappy or just a plain crappy alarm might short out the circuit. but like i said check the fuses 1st with a meter...NOT BY EYE! fuses can look "a ok" but in actuality are popped and you can't see the break in them. if you find a bad fuse and replace it... and as soon as you turn your lights on the fuse pops again...you have a short somewhere in the parking light circuit. sounds like a fuse but holla back with some more input.

for your instrument panel lights, Go to search and type in Dimmer Switch! Most props for instrument panel lights are Fuses, Or Dimmer Switch. Good Luck Bud
And please add more info on your car like jz98ctr said, the better info the better we all can help you.

I'll check out the fuses next time I get a chance. The car is a 93 hatch with a gsr motor swap, type r internals, skunk 2 intake, headers, exhaust, vtec controller, it does have a viper car alarm system installed on it, however i have it unplugged since the car is just sitting in the garage.
oh nice.. well yeah, check your fuses! and if they blow than try replacing your dimmer switch.. Usually the junk yard has them or buy new ones. And i don't think your viper alarm has anything to do with your wiring.. unless you did the alarm wiring you self? did you? Or did you take it to a certified shop to install that for you?
