d16z6 je pistons
i've done the search and seen all the threads, just making sure i have it right. if i put my z6 pistons in my y8 the will have a little higher compression? right? they a 8.5 so i don't mind bumping it up a little if i read right. thanks for your help and info!

I think you'd lose compression if you put Z6 pistons in a Y8 block, the Z6 has like .4 lower compression ratio.
So assuming they make a Z6 8.5 comp, they'd probably be around 8 flat in a Y8...
That's all theory, b/c the Z6 runs like a 9.14 I think, and I think the Y8 runs like a 9.6 - so uhh, 8.5 in a Z6 would be a bit diff in a Y8 b/c I think the crank offsets are the same.
O.o
Bump for ya.

i read through a bunch of post about this when i did my search, and i thought if you put y8 pistons in a z6 it lowers the compression, so, if i you put z6 into a y8 it raises the compression
Nope you will lose compression if you put the z6 pistons into the y8. Stock CR for a y8 is 9.6096, used with just z6 pistons you will get 8.9391. So YES you will lose compression if you use the z6 pistons. I got these readings from http://www.c-speedracing.com/h...c.php

It's possible, I don't know for sure b/c the heads are slightly different, but the Y8 runs like a 9.6 CR while the Z6 runs like a 9.2 CR, and I think they run the same offset crank. So uhh, iono anything about how their heads compare, that'd be the deciding factor.

He's rolling back the CR, 9.2 (stock) > 8.5 (his JE new pistons) - he's probably making a nitrous engine or plans on boosting.
