I think I have a bad CV joint can anyone confirm.
I am sick so I do not want to go out in the garage and mess with it, If i stand up for too long I get dizzy.
99 accord v6 auto
Hard turns and big bums (like my curb on my driveway) the car clicks. Sounds like it is coming from the wheel. Also when I am driving the steering wheel kind of moves back and fourth on its own but it not bad. I can barely feel it doing it.
I think that is it. If I do not feel better tomorrow then I will take it to a shop. I need it fixed.

I have the same type of problem, slot of people will say that it is a out of balance tire. me I had the problem with completely different rims and tires. another thing to check though is your ball joints, tie-rods, and wheel bearings. personaly though it does sound like a cv, but cant tell for sure without seeing it.
Might be the axle.
I had the same problem, it only did it on hard turns, but not during straight roads. I got a new axle done and the problem is gone

hi,
I recently had my Honda Dealer install all the recalls for my 97 Accord.
Anyway, on my invoice it says that both Front Axle Shafts are worn out and noisy. Now, I can't hear a thing. So there is no clicking when I turn or anything.
The Honda dealer recommended replacing the front axle. I'm not sure what to do, because I don't trust these guys. They also told me that the front seal of my water pump was leaking and therefore wanted to replace the timing belt + pump. The things is, I don't see anything leaking, even when the car is parked for several days. I also checked the coolant tank and the coolant level it is fine.
So, what do you guys think regarding the axle shafts?
thank you

very unlikely that the axle shaft is worn out on an unmodified honda. more likely you need a new cv boot, which is just the rubber sleeve around the axle joint. it costs like $11 at kragen, and then you could maybe find someone on craigslist to put it on if you can't do it yourself. as for the axles, the honda dealer loves to recommend replacement axles when the cv boot goes out... but it is rarely necessary the way they say.

Sounds like a couple problems. First, hard turning could be the ball joints or tie rods binding. Does the steering wheel come back to center after doing a turn? Second, the clicking noise when turning it is very very likely to be the cv joints. You can get a CV joint from autozone and rent some of the tools from them to do the job if you're interesting in doing it yourself. the wondering youre describing sounds like it could be a tie rod, bad alignment, tire pressure, etc. etc.
Recently I had similar problems with my car, hard steering and clicking noise, i replaced all the ball joints and driver CV shaft and drives very smooth now. It pulls to the left a little during acceleration but because I've gone through everything including an alignment, i believe this is normal. Anyone else have that slight pull only during acceleration as well?

Yes, it does.
I scheduled an appointment at the dealer for Tuesday, I am still sick and I am leaving for Cleveland tonight. I am thinking about canceling the appointment at the dealer and calling a local shop instead.
What do you guys usually do?
:edit:
My buddy usually helps me with my truck and when I hit a deer he did all the body work for cheap. I have thought about having him do my car but I want him to do it at my house because his fat *** kids always dent and scratch his cars. My truck is a 92 Mazda with a lot of rust and dents already so I didn't mind with that.

there is also an issue with the aluminum wheels causing the clicking. if you have put your car up and looked at the boots and they are good, then use some high temp greage on the back of the rims and mount them back on the car and see if that solves the issue

how many labor hours do you think it will take replacing the cv boot? And how should I be paying someone on craigslist?
thank you

it is a bout 1.5 book hours if I remember which I don't, but you should just replace the shaft all together, and yes I have seen a lot of cars c.v. joint/shafts fail being stock and not beaten. and no I wouldn't pay someone on craigslist, or pay them after the work is done.

so you are saying that I should not just replace the boots but rather the shafts? How much are the shafts? It is still cheaper than replacing the entire axle, right?

Changing the boots is not goint to cure the clicking noise, change the entire shaft. On a good CV Joint and a bad boot, just changing the boot takes two to three times as long as changing the entire shaft anyways, get a shaft and get a warantee, boots dont have a warantee.
if you are using a split boot, then sure it takes no time, i just never trust them. Also a bad bearing ain't gonna get any better by putting more grease on it. when I say c.v. shaft I do mean the shaft and the joint fyi.
Modded or not they go out.
Modding really makes little difference.
It's the WAY a modded car is driven more than the fact that it is modded.
Turning the wheel and taking off fast is harder on them than leisure driving.
We all drive leisurely right??

its most likely a cv joint. ive had three accords, all had cv issues and the same clickin you describe. an axle isnt too much money if you can install it yourself, but dont go that route, unless its necessary (i.e. you put a new cv joint on and it still clicks) buy the service book for your car from any auto parts store. it saves you a lot of money repairing stuff yourself, its nice to know more, and it feels a hell of a lot better to fix something yourself.
it is calming to any independent suspension car I have worked on; not just hondas or accords, to have problems with ther cvs but ye I agree do it your self
