Default Relocating Battery.

Who's done it? I moved the battery to the trunk and ran the 0 ga. wire to the back too. Im unsure if i need a battery box or not.. I hear that the battery expels gases so im unsure if that is a hazard or not.

If you've relocated your battery and used a battery box, where did u get it?

You should be able to find a box at your normal auto shop. If not try Battery World, they have a large range of sizes. Another option is to go to a Marine Shop, they usually supply Battery Boxes, obviously to protect them from water and salt etc. Goodluck.

i've seen the moroso battery box, It's too much for my budget. was hoping to get something a bit more reasonable.

P.S. if u relocated ur battery, what did u guys do w/ the + terminal in the bay? ill post pix of what i did. :D

the odyssey battery mod looks sweet! It's just that w/ the weather here in houston im afraid that i may get caught up in a flood and Ill short the whole car. :/

What do you mean postive terminal in the bay?

Here's where I put mine...Odesseys are pretty versatile

I see no reason to worry about vapors or anything with a sealed battery....could be wrong though.

What i meant when i referred to the postive terminal, I was actually talking about the wires that come from the starter and the fuse box.

I can see what u did w/ the wire from the fuse box hawke Im assuming the wire from the starter went the same direction too?
that's pretty awesome there hawke! How will u get to the fuse box or get a jump start when u need too tho? remove the carpet?

Ill post pix of what i did later today.

I had my battery mounted in the trunk for a while. Had the positive off the battery run into the engine bay into a distribution block and had 2 wires run off of that into the starter and fuse box..

Hawkze's Prelude is completely gutted, so the battery is easily accessible for him.

It was just a 0-2 to 4-8 gauge distribution block I bought at Best Buy, if I remember correctly. Had 2 gauge wire ran from the positive on the battery to the distribution block mounted on my firewall, then I had two 4 gauge wires branched off from it into the fuse box and to the starter.

Yeah, the starter power wire mounts directly to the battery positive along with the fuse box wire.

I can easily jump the car from the engine bay. I put the positive cable on the starter connection and I have a negative battery terminal mounted to a spot on the frame behind the shock tower.

on my car i pulled the dash fuse box out and there's a perfect hole to pull the wire through behind that, and then ran that under the carpet to the back. also, important info: a charging battery produces hydrogen gas! very explosive. i'm not sure if a sealed batter releases its gases. seems like the pressure would build.

a little more elaboration plz? i have a regular battery in my trunk atm. should i ditch it and get a different type? Is optima the only dry cell battery on the market? It's all I ever hear about ppl talking when dry cell batteries are talked about..

BTW how did u guys secure ur Resevoir tank? i cut my tray in half and used the portion that has the slider for it. Anyone else came up w/ an idea?

That's what I did at first, but eventually I bought an aftermarket billet overflow tank and it mounts directly to the radiator.

well after my odyssey battery died (for unknown reasons), i relocated to the trunk and i've had problems w/ grounding ever since. (I have to add a ground from the battery - in trunk, to the Transmission Ground ASAP!)

I decided to relocate my overflow in front of my radiator as shown...

darkbb4, when having grounding issues after u moved ur battery to the trunk, did u ground ur tranny at that time??

i grounded the tranny to the chasis then the battery in the trunk to a strut bolt. no problems yet
