Default Aftermarket projectors + PnP H.I.D.'s

Ive got a set of aftermarket projectors for my 99 civic si and am wanting to get some HIDs. They look good with halogen bulbs but not sure how they will look with HIDs. Oh, and they take a H1 bulb.

I know they wont look as good as doing a retrofit but i dont care enough about them to do that, light output isnt that big of a deal, mainly just looks.

Ditch those and get some real HID projectors. Halogen projectors just do not perform anywhere near as good as HID projectors. Trust me, it'll be less money spent in the long run. If you really want to get HID's for them, get 4300K.

Yeah I probably will end up doing a retrofit, just kinda lazy, but it more than likely will happen, but ill deffinately go with 8000k, maybe 6000k, but probably not.

or don't go with 8000k, or 6000k and stick with 4300k. You'll just have annoying lights on the road.

bad idea brother. 8000k hids are the wackiest thing in the world.

4300k ONLY! dont be a buster and get anything higher.

by the way just to let you know i have a friend with aftermarket projectors on his volkswagen gti they look siick with halogens lights

then he got HIDs 4300k and they look AWESOME dude. and he didnt spend 800+ to get something retrofitted and that exlcudes the HID bubls and ballast!

dont get me wrong i finally understand why HID retrofit are far more superior to anything else out there but for what he spent it would have definately been my choice as well.

just make sure you get 4300k HIDs those are the best to go with aftermarket projectors. anything else WILL look wack.

Exactly what i was needing to know.

After debating it almost all day I guess 4300 will be best, having a tinted windshield is both good and bad...

ahh. I like how you think man. I see you are using JNC's mounting technique. Good job. TSX's too big for your headlights?

Yea, the tsx is too big and wide, which will require me to chop a big part of the back of the housing up. it's been done before but alot of work. The e46 i'm using is almost a perfect fit. I'm using a modified version of the JNC method lol triple the amount of bolts used just to make it adjustable without using the stock projector bowl

nice. You might not be as happy with the E46 compared to the TSX though. But either way, you're doing it the right way!! Props to you buddy.

Thanks! I know the E46 wont' be as good as Tsx but it's a huge differnence between plug and play and OEM. But if i were to do it again i'd retro fit TSX in TYC OEM style headlights. Seems like its much much easier since there is more room to play with and adjustablities.

Yeah, I saw the other post with the guy wanting to buy the headlights with the E46 shroud. That looks good.

Did the VW projectors by chance take H7 bulbs? My buddy's old Audi A4 came with Valeo H7 projectors in the stock headlights, and a simple kit consisting of Hella G4 ballasts, OEM D2S bulbs and H7 adapter ring produced excellent results. That's probably the only halogen projector that works well with HID. And it only cost about $250 for the whole setup.

The best part was that the Audi A4's of the same year that came w/ HID's stock used those same Hella ballasts, and there was already a rectangular spot on the bottom of the headlight housing for the ballast to sit. The ballast had a gasket on the plug, and we Dremel'd a hole for it to fit exactly, which left no exposed wiring and everything looked 100% stock.
