My friend put stage 2 cams in a b17 head and kept the stock valvespring's+valve's and it stopped running after driving it around as a dd, never found out the problem to it but it's been sitting for about a month or two.

Excessive wear in the valve train will cause the retainers to fail realeasing a valve in your cylinder. Best case scenario, engine shuts down, smiley face in your piston, a few bent valves. Worst case scenario, needs a new bottom end (valves scored piston walls) and need a new top end (valves smashed the combustion chamber).

Too poor to upgrade? Get stage 1s.

If you do go with Stage 1's, you might want to look into your LMA's. S2S1's mangled mine.
